Project 3020 outlines a scenario that could occur in a thousand years, imagining how e-waste, material waste from the immaterial digital age, will interfere with natural geological processes. The patterns engraved with laser markers on silver foil represent a transposition of the natural textures of rocks in the digital world: the stratification of sedimentary rocks becomes a glitch noise, the porosity of volcanic rocks recalls the perforated boards used to insert information into the first computers, the lines of deformation typical of metamorphic rocks are transformed into a bitstream.
The circular form represents the union of two Kingdoms, Natural and Artificial.
The technique of realization mixes craftsmanship techniques and digital processing.
